In 2020, Eritrean forces massacred civilians in Axum, looting while Ethiopian forces stood by. Hundreds of children and adults were killed.

Since 2022, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has killed ~1,000 children, injured thousands, and deported ~19,000 to Russia, many placed in camps or adoptions.

By late 2023, Gaza became the deadliest place in the world for children: ~15,000 killed, 80% of schools destroyed, widespread starvation and disease risk.
